Floor Quotation Checklist

To enable us to give you the most accurate estimate for your project we need certain information.

On this page you can find a checklist. Much of this information may be included in your drawings - but some may not, so please print this page for your reference and check.

Checklist Part 1 - General Information

Information Reason
Enquirers name and contact details and details of who the quote is to be sent to (if different)
Site address and location for the development Location can affect haulage costs
The area to be covered by the precast floor and the level of the floor (ground/ ground over basement/ first floor/ second floor/ etc...) To ensure that the correct area of floor is quoted for
Are there any access or delivery restrictions? (E.g. are rgid lorries required, would delivery be required outside normal working hours?) Working hours can affect the haulage and fixing costs

Checklist Part 2 - The Floor

Information Reason

The use to which the precast floor is to be put (i.e. domestic, games room, garage, office, storage, etc...) To ensure floors is designed for correct loadings
The superimposed (live) load that is required by the Architect/ Engineer. To ensure floors is designed for correct loadings
The depth and type of floor finish that is to be applied to the precast floor. (E.g. 50mm screed, 75mm screed, chipboard and polystyrene, raised access flooring etc.) To ensure floors is designed for correct loadings
The type of cieling finish to be applied to the underside of the precast floor where applicable. To ensure floors is designed for correct loadings
The direction that the precast floor units are to span between supports. To ensure floors span onto load bearing elements
Internal dimensions between supporting walls, or centrelines of steelwork. To determine span of floor units
Perimeter edge details (E.g. do floors cantilever over supports?) To determine extent of precast floor area.

Checklist Part 3 - Walls

Information Reason
The type of thickness of the wall(s) that the precast floor units bear onto, both below and above the floor level. To ensure that floors have the correct bearing at the supports
The type and thickness of finish to be applied to the wall(s) supported on the precast floor units. To ensure that the floors ate designed to carry the partitions
If the wall(s) to be supported by the precast floor units carry load from above, what is the load to the wall(s) and /or what do the walls support. To ensure that the floors are designed to carry the load bearing walls

Checklist Part 4- Stairs

Information Reason

Are the stairs supported off the precast floor, if so what type and span are the stairs. (i.e. timber, precast concrete etc)

To ensure that the floors are designed to carry the stairs
A plan of the stairwell To establish the size of the landings and how they are to be supported
A section through the stairwell showing the finished floor to finished floor dimension of each storey. To establish the Rise and Going of the flights
What is the depth of finishes at each floor level? To allow correct size and positioning of the top and bottom risers.

Checklist Part 5- Voids and openings

Information Reason
The location and sizes of soil/vent pipes, gas, water mains etc. To make adequate provision in the layout of the precast floor units
Size and position of all large voids and openings required in the precast floor To make adequate provision in the layout of the precast floor units

Types and sizes of steel trimmers provided in the supporting structure

Checklist Part 6- Steelwork

Information Reason
Layout and dimensions to all steelwork  
The size and level of all steelwork, and type of support to the precast floor units.  

Size, type and location of any surrounds to column, beams etc.
