Milbank Floors Ltd was founded in 1947 at Howe Street near Chelmsford on a 3/4 acre site. Originally manufacturing precast concrete flooring, prestressed production commenced after high tensile wire became available in 1952.

Following the death of Geoffrey Milbank in 1964, the founder, John Milbank the current MD took over the running of the company.

In 1980, after 16 years of continued progress, Milbank Floors Ltd started production of a new type of prestressed flooring system for the housing market. This new system comprised of prestressed concrete beams and standard building blocks spanning between them. These "beam and block" floors soon became accepted within the building industry.

With the acceptance of the new product in the market, additional casting moulds were installed at the factory and in 1983, a self-offload lorry with a rear mounted loading arm was purchased. This made the installation of precast house floors to single plots more cost effective, and to service the increasing proportion of supply only orders.

In 1984 a new 3 acre site was purchased at Earls Colne Airfield and in 1985, the whole operation was moved from Howe Street. In 1987, a further 3 acres was acquired allowing greater production capability and future expansion.

Since the 1980's, Milbank Floors have continued to expand both the production of precast flooring units along with stairs, car park decks, landings and other associated products. With over 250 staff catering for every need and over 50 delivery vehicles, Milbank continue to provide a service unrivalled in the industry.

In 2000, Milbank Floors purchased a 40 acre site in Brandon, Suffolk and production of the new Reinforced Hollowcore Plank will commence in 2001. The revolutionary manufacturing process for the Reinforced system enables Milbank Floors to produce planks at up to a million square metres per year. Such is the rapid production rate of quality reinforced floor planks, Milbank Floors are able to hold stock, a first in the UK.
